It is permissible to sell birds from which benefit is derived, such as the falcon, the goshawk, the peregrine falcon, and the eagle, if they are trained or trainable. Likewise, the peacock due to its beautiful colors, and the nightingale and parrot for their pleasant voices. As for birds that are neither eaten nor used for hunting, such as the vulture, the kite, and the crow, it is not permissible to sell them. Similarly, trading in dogs is not permissible, except for hunting and guard dogs (and there is a difference of opinion regarding them). As for selling reptiles, it is permissible if there is a permissible benefit in them, such as selling leeches and snakes for medicinal purposes, and marine animals that have value.
