Is it permissible to view the deceased in a video or photographs?

The safest course for a Muslim is to abstain from all types of photography, except when there is a religiously valid need. There is no difference between photographic images and video images. The ruling on viewing a deceased person in a video recording is the same as viewing a living person: it is forbidden if the 'awrah is exposed, and permissible if there is a need, such as investigating the causes of death.
