What is the ruling on the yellowish discharge that a wife still experiences after the postpartum period has ended?

The maximum period for postpartum bleeding (nifas) is forty days. Whatever the wife experiences after the forty days, whether it is blood, yellowish discharge, or brownish discharge, is considered istihada (non-menstrual bleeding) and is not considered menstruation unless it coincides with the time of her regular period prior to pregnancy. A woman experiencing istihada must perform ghusl (ritual bath) and wudu (ablution) for each prayer after its time has begun. Her husband is permitted to have intercourse with her.
