Is mechanical slaughter of chickens permissible in large factories, especially with the use of non-fatal electric stunning prior to slaughter?

The Shar'i (Islamically lawful) slaughter is achieved by cutting the pharynx and esophagus of an animal over which one has control, and by wounding an animal over which one has no control, anywhere on its body, by a Muslim or a person of the Book (Christian or Jew). Mechanical slaughter is not forbidden by Sharia (definition) if the name of Allah is mentioned over it and the person operating the machine is someone whose slaughter is valid. Stunning should not be practiced due to the impermissible torture of the animal involved, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded excellence in slaughter.
