Is there a special reward for ascending Mount of Mercy (Jabal Ar-Rahmah) and praying on it on the day of Arafat?

It has not been authentically reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) encouraged ascending Jabal 'Arafat (the Mount of Mercy) or considered it a ritual. Rather, he stood beneath the mountain near the large rocks and said: "I have stood here, and all of 'Arafat is a standing place." Therefore, ascending the mountain is considered an innovation (bid'ah), and the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever introduces into our affairs that which is not of them, it is rejected." He also did not offer supererogatory prayers in 'Arafat; instead, he sufficed with the Dhuhr and 'Asr prayers in Masjid Namirah. Thus, establishing a prayer area or a mosque on this mountain is an innovation introduced by the ignorant. Ascending Jabal 'Arafat is not prescribed, and if a person considers it an act of worship, it is an innovation, because the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) neither ascended it nor commanded its ascension.
