Is reciting the Qur’an from memory without ablution reprehensible (makruh), knowing that reciting it with ablution is recommended (mustahabb)?

Reciting the Quran for one who has a minor ritual impurity is permissible by scholarly consensus. The difference of opinion among scholars concerns touching the mushaf (physical copy of the Quran) for one who has ritual impurity and recitation for one who is in a state of major ritual impurity (junub). The proof for the permissibility of this is the hadith of Ibn Abbas that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, recited the last ten verses of Surat Aal 'Imran before performing wudu.
