The answer

Severing ties of kinship is a major sin. The uncle's ill-treatment does not permit severing ties with him, for the one who maintains ties is not he who reciprocates, but rather he who, when his kinship ties are severed, reconnects them. And whoever connects with his relatives who cut him off, it is as if he is feeding them hot ashes, and he will always have a supporter from Allah against them. Obedience to the mother is not obligatory if she commands to sever ties of kinship, but if a certain harm results from maintaining the ties, then avoidance is permissible.
