Is it permissible to seek divorce from a husband who is prone to many disputes, uses offensive language, insults the family, hits, cheats, and does not provide for his wife and daughter, and is the father sinful for defending his daughter's dignity?

If a husband is abusive in his treatment and negligent in his wife's rights, by not spending on her, neglecting prayers, speaking to girls, and insulting her parents, then he is sinful. It is permissible for the wife to seek divorce due to his transgression and the harm she suffers by remaining with him.

We do not advise haste in divorce; it is better to strive for reconciliation, such as having wise people from his family and her family sit together for reconciliation. If reconciliation is not possible, and separation is more likely, then there is no harm in it, and Allah may place good in it.

As for the husband's statements such as: "You are finished as a wife to me" or "We are not married," divorce does not occur by these statements unless intended. If he did not intend divorce by them, then the marital bond remains. The husband is not legally obligated to bring his wife home, but he should not be obstinate in this matter.
