Will what my mother did—slapping her cheeks, swearing to die as an infidel, then repenting, seeking forgiveness, and uttering the Two Testimonies upon death—forgive her sins and grant her a good end?

We ask Allah, by His grace and mercy, to forgive your mother and to make her among those for whom the end was good, given her remorse for what had passed, her frequent seeking of forgiveness, her righteous deeds, and the fact that the word of Tawhid (Oneness of God) was her last utterance. This is in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "But whoever repents after his wrongdoing and makes amends, indeed, Allah will accept his repentance. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful" (Al-Ma'idah: 39), and His saying: "Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy: that whoever of you does evil by ignorance and then repents after that and corrects himself - then indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful" (Al-An'am: 54). Remorse is repentance, and "the one who repents from sin is like one who has no sin." Allah accepts repentance as long as the soul has not reached the throat (death throes), and He extends His hand night and day for repentance, and He forgives sins even if they reach the heights of the sky, as long as the servant does not associate partners with Him.
