What is the ruling of Islamic law concerning how to deal with a wife who despises her husband's family despite their good treatment of her, and does this issue necessitate divorce?

The wife owes her husband's family nothing more than what any Muslim owes another Muslim. Therefore, she is not obligated to maintain ties with them, nor to obey her husband if he commands her to do so. However, a wife's love for her husband's family and her good companionship with them enhance her status with her husband and preserve her home. The wife's relationship with her husband's family is not a valid reason for her divorce.
