What is the ruling on repeatedly ceasing to pray due to sin, despite striving to overcome it?

Abandoning prayer is one of the greatest sins after shirk (polytheism). Some scholars consider merely abandoning it to be disbelief, while one who denies its obligatory nature is a disbeliever by the consensus of Muslims.

Whoever commits these transgressions must offer sincere repentance, commit to prayer, abandon the sin, regret it, and resolve not to return to it.

Committing sins does not justify abandoning prayer; rather, it increases the sin.

Missed prayers, even if intentionally abandoned, must be made up according to the majority of scholars.
