Is it permissible to drink from a vessel, some parts of which contain gold?
The use of gold is forbidden for men and women, except for women to adorn themselves with it. The proof for the prohibition of using gold in eating, drinking, and other matters is the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Do not wear silk or brocade, and do not drink in vessels of gold and silver, for these are for them [the disbelievers] in this world and for you in the Hereafter." And his saying: "Whoever drinks in vessels of gold and silver, he is only gurgling the fire of Hell into his stomach." This prohibition includes both small and large quantities, and its use is not permissible even out of necessity, such as for soldering or repair.
