The use of gold and silver vessels for eating, drinking, ablution (wudu), and ritual bathing (ghusl (definition)) is forbidden, whether they are plates, spoons, or cups. This prohibition is established by textual evidence and scholarly consensus. A severe warning has been issued against those who commit this act. Therefore, a Muslim must be cautious of such extravagance and waste, and instead spend money on good deeds such as giving charity to the poor, assisting the needy, building mosques, repairing roads, and supporting the mujahideen. Scholars and rulers must condemn this act and prevent the extravagant from engaging in it.
