What is the ruling of the Shari'ah concerning a wife who wishes to seek a divorce (khul') from her husband who does not love her, does not provide for her, mistreats her, dislikes her adherence to the Sunnah, and compels her to work, while her parents reject this?

Affection and tranquility between spouses are an Islamic objective, and it is not permissible for a woman to seek divorce without a strong reason, for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Any woman who asks her husband for divorce without any strong reason, the fragrance of Paradise will be forbidden to her." However, if cohabitation in kindness becomes impossible and strong reasons exist, such as the husband refusing to provide financial support or mistreating her, then it is permissible for her to seek divorce or khul'. It is advisable to attempt reconciliation and mediation before taking this step. Parents have no guardianship over a woman concerning khul' if she is an adult and of sound mind.
