How is the inheritance distributed among: one son, one daughter, one wife, and one full brother?

If the deceased leaves no heirs other than those mentioned, his wife receives one-eighth as a prescribed share due to the presence of a lineal descendant. The remainder goes to the son and daughter by way of ta'sib (residuary heirship), with the male receiving the share of two females. The full brother receives nothing as he is completely excluded by the son.

Accordingly, the inheritance is divided into twenty-four shares: the wife receives three shares, the son fourteen shares, and the daughter seven shares.

It must be noted that matters of inheritance are serious and complex, and a mere fatwa is insufficient. Rather, the matter must be referred to the Sharia courts for investigation and consideration of wills, debts, and other rights before the inheritance is distributed.
