Is it permissible to give zakat to wealthy orphans who are themselves obligated to pay zakat?

The recipients of zakat are well-known in the Quran. If an orphan falls under one of these categories, then it is permissible to give him zakat; otherwise, it is not. Orphanhood alone is not a reason for deserving zakat. If the orphan is wealthy, it is not permissible to give him zakat. If an orphan owns wealth on which zakat is due, then zakat on this wealth becomes obligatory upon him, and his guardian pays it on his behalf. This is the view of the majority of scholars. Abu Hanifa, however, holds the view that zakat is not obligatory on the wealth of a child or an insane person, except for crops and fruits.
