Is it permissible to continue speaking with a young man—even briefly and normally—after ending an unlawful relationship with the intention of repentance?

Emotional relationships between young men and women who are not mahram are forbidden, even if they do not lead to fornication, because they are a means to temptation (fitna) and corruption.

One must repent from such a relationship and completely sever it. There should be no communication between the two parties except for a necessary need, while observing the Shariah-compliant controls.

Marriage is the only legitimate way for a relationship between you. If it is facilitated, then that is excellent; otherwise, each should go their own way.

It is advised to remain steadfast, seek beneficial knowledge, perform righteous deeds, and keep good company.
