It is not permissible for a husband to take his wife's money unless she gives it willingly, based on the Almighty's saying: "But if they contentedly remit to you therefrom anything, consume it in satisfaction and ease." This is more profound than mere permission. And based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "It is not permissible to take a person's money except with their willing consent." A husband who takes from his wife's money without her consent consumes what is unlawful, oppresses her, and violates her right. The maintenance of the wife and children is an obligation upon him.
