The answer

Allah is not questioned about what He does and chooses; for Allah possesses ultimate wisdom in what He creates and decrees. The jinn do not control us; rather, their harm is like the harm of humans, and it is repelled by seeking refuge [with Allah], engaging in remembrance [of Allah], and reciting protective supplications, along with sound belief and having good expectations of Allah. The reasons for the widespread presence and dominance of devils include people's fear of them and seeking refuge in them, weakness of faith and lack of reliance [on Allah], not genuinely seeking refuge with Allah, not fortifying homes with the Quran, remembrance [of Allah], and prayer, falling into sins and acts of disobedience, and the presence of sorcerers and soothsayers. To be protected from devils, one must remember Allah and engage in lawful protective measures, such as recitation [of the Quran] and remembrance [of Allah], constantly seeking refuge [with Allah] and reciting protective supplications for children, keeping children indoors at nightfall, closing doors, and covering vessels and water skins at night, regularly reciting the prescribed remembrances, and reciting Surah Al-Baqarah and Ayat Al-Kursy (the Verse of the Throne).
