Is it permissible to continue eating after hearing the call to begin the prayer (Iqama) if the father has cited a hadith from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, that allows this for those present?

It is recommended for someone who is presented with food and whose soul yearns for it to eat before praying, so that he may approach the prayer with a heart free from distractions. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no prayer in the presence of food, nor when one is being pressed by the two impurities (urine and feces)." This does not require severe hunger; it is sufficient that the soul yearns greatly for food, such that the heart becomes preoccupied and loses its devotion. It is disliked to begin the prayer in this state, even if it leads to missing the congregational prayer, unless the prayer time is running out.
