Do I bear the sin of hearing music in video games played by others, or when showcasing gameplay clips containing music to a large number of viewers?

We have issued a fatwa that it is not forbidden to play games that contain music if the sound is muted and they are free from other Shariah prohibitions, due to the absence of the reason for prohibition (listening to music). As for playing online while the other player is listening to music, this is a matter of doubt, and the basic principle concerning it is permissibility. However, it is safer and more cautious to adhere to piety and avoid doubtful matters, because "the lawful is clear, and the unlawful is clear, and between them are doubtful matters."
