Is supplicating for a shorter life and good deeds in our current time unlawful?

It is disliked to wish for death due to a hardship that has befallen a person. Patience and contentment with Allah's decree are preferable. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade wishing for death absolutely, because a Muslim's deeds cease with death, and a believer's continued life increases their good deeds and their opportunity for repentance. So, let the believer be patient and seek reward, and supplicate: "O Allah, keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and cause me to die when death is better for me," or "If You intend a trial for Your servants, then take me to You untempted."
