What is the ruling on adoption and attributing the adopted child to the one who adopted him?

Adoption is forbidden, and its danger lies in the implications of filiation that arise from it, such as inheritance and the prohibition of marital affinity, and so on. This results in the adopted child being given what is not rightfully theirs and being denied what is. It is incumbent upon the adopted child to restore the matter to its true state and attribute themselves to their real father. If their lineage is unknown, they should use a general attribution such as "son of Abdullah" or "son of Abdurrahman."
