What is the ruling on a religious person who has bad manners with his wife, neighbors, and others?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was sent to perfect noble character, and he expressed this by saying: "I was only sent to perfect noble character." Some Muslims suffer from a disconnect between worship and ethics, even though the pillars of Islam aim to refine souls and improve character. Prayer prohibits indecency and evil, fasting requires abstaining from false speech, zakat is a purification for the soul, and during Hajj, one is forbidden from obscenity, wickedness, and quarreling. The entire religion is about ethics, therefore, whoever harms his wife and neighbors must be reminded to fear Allah.
