Is it permissible to celebrate New Year's holidays, and how can those who celebrate them be convinced that it is not permissible, citing evidence?

We have previously clarified the impermissibility of celebrating the New Year, and people can be convinced of this by explaining the Shariah ruling, encouraging the adherence to the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), the Companions, and the righteous predecessors, clarifying the Islamic creed and the rulings of loyalty and disavowal (Al-Wala' wal-Bara'), demonstrating the danger of imitating disbelievers, and urging Muslims to be proud of their religion and to adhere to it. It should also be emphasized that the greatest manifestation of guidance is following those upon whom Allah has bestowed favor, and avoiding the following of Jews and Christians, for Allah has commanded us to ask Him for guidance to the path of those upon whom He has bestowed favor, and to avoid the path of those who have incurred wrath and those who are astray, in every unit (rak'ah) of prayer.
