What is the ruling on a mother going to a diviner who informed her of her daughter's marital unhappiness and the duration of her marriage, and what should the daughter do regarding this anxiety despite her knowledge that only Allah knows the unseen?

One must believe that Allah alone knows the unseen, and fearing soothsayers is ignorance, for they deal with jinn and devils. Claiming knowledge of the unseen is among the destructive acts that remove one from monotheism. Whoever believes a soothsayer has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad, and whoever asks one but does not believe him, his prayer will not be accepted for forty nights. The devils eavesdrop on the angels and convey a word to the soothsayers, then the soothsayer adds a hundred lies around it, and people believe him because of that word heard from the sky. Not every soothsayer is a kahin (diviner who deals with jinn), but they are equal in claiming knowledge of the unseen, and the kahin who deals with devils is more severe in disbelief. You must advise your mother to stay away from these charlatans and not to abandon marriage, for marriage has great benefits, and whatever befalls a person is by the decree of Allah, not by the word of a kahin.
