What is the ruling on not fasting two consecutive Ramadans due to pregnancy and breastfeeding, and what should be done now with the arrival of Ramadan?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A pregnant or breastfeeding woman must make up the missed fasts (qada') and offer a fidyah (feeding a poor person for each day) if they break their fast out of fear for their child. However, if the fear is for themselves, or for both themselves and the child, then they only need to make up the missed fasts. And whoever delays making up for missed Ramadan fasts without a valid excuse until the next Ramadan begins, must make up the fasts and feed a poor person for each day. But if the delay was due to a valid excuse, then they only need to make up the fasts whenever it becomes easy for them.
