Those who undertake this are agents on behalf of the money's owners, and thus it is not permissible for them to dispose of the funds except within the limits of what they have been authorized to do. Authorization to spend money on charitable causes does not imply authorization to invest it or engage in trade with it. This is not permissible except with the knowledge and permission of the donors. Otherwise, the agent guarantees any loss or damage. If they authorize investment, the agent is not entitled to any portion of the profit except as agreed upon with the donors.
