Is it permissible to abandon one's mother who goes to "the diviner" to learn about the unseen?
The person who claims to inform people of the unseen is on the level of a diviner and a soothsayer, and a severe warning has been issued against anyone who comes to a soothsayer or diviner and believes him. What the mother is doing is a serious matter, and she must be advised and called to repentance with wisdom. If she does not stop and does not accept the advice, then she may be shunned in the act of disobedience by not going with her to him, while continuing to treat her kindly and accompany her with good conduct, as Allah Almighty said: "But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindness."
