How can I balance obeying my mother, who prevents me from teaching others out of fear of the evil eye for me, with my duty to disseminate knowledge, which the Messenger (peace be upon him) enjoined?

Obeying and honoring one's mother is among the most emphasized obligations after the right of Allah Almighty, and this applies to permissible and recommended matters. However, there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator. If explaining lessons and issues to neighbors and friends is an individual obligation (fard ayn) to correct their faith and teach them what they are ignorant of regarding their religious affairs, then obedience to the mother in forsaking that is not obligatory. But if it is not an individual obligation, then obedience to the mother takes precedence. One should try to convince the mother gently. Moreover, a Muslim must take the precautions that protect against the evil eye and envy, such as reciting dhikr and the two Mu'awwidhatayn.
