What is the virtue of reciting Surat Ya-Sin when leaving the the house?

Reading the Quran, including Surat Ya-Sin, contains abundant good and great reward. There are weak or fabricated hadiths regarding the virtues of Surat Ya-Sin. There is no original basis specifically for reading Ya-Sin upon leaving the house. What has been reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, are supplications to be recited upon exiting, among them: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from going astray or being led astray..." and "In the name of Allah, I have relied upon Allah, and there is no might or power except with Allah." There is no objection to reading Ya-Sin or any other surah (definition) upon leaving or at any other time to gain the reward of recitation.
