Is it permissible for a woman to pray in congregation with men in the mosque, or should she pray alone?
Source: FtawySummarized from the full answer at Ftawy · imported Sep 2, 2026
There is no harm in a woman praying in the mosque alone behind men, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If one of you witnesses the mosque, she should not touch perfume." And because of the saying of Anas, may Allah be pleased with him: "I and an orphan prayed in our house behind the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and my mother - Umm Sulaym - was behind us." It is better for a woman to pray in her house because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do not prevent your women from the mosques, and their houses are better for them."
