Is the pilgrim performing 'Umrah obligated to offer a sacrifice (hady)?
It is for the pilgrim performing Hajj al- (single Hajj) and the one performing to slaughter a sacrificial animal (hady) in Mecca after completing their rites, and this is a confirmed sunnah. As for the pilgrim performing Hajj al-Tamattu' (combining Umrah and Hajj) and Hajj al- (combining Umrah and Hajj), the hady is obligatory upon them, based on the words of Allah the Almighty: "But whoever performs Umrah [in the months of Hajj] then [completes] Hajj – then [for him is] what can be obtained of sacrificial animals." The hady is also obligatory when its cause arises, such as being prevented from completing the pilgrimage (ihsar) or engaging in sexual intercourse.
