Was our master Bilal, the Muezzin of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, a Companion, and were any hadiths narrated by him?

A companion (Sahabi) is one who saw the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, believed in him, and died upon that belief. Bilal, may Allah be pleased with him, is a companion by consensus. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, bore witness to his melodious voice, and Umar described him as the master of the companions. Bilal narrated many hadiths, among them the Prophet's command to him to make the Tathwib (calling to prayer a second time) for Fajr, and his saying: "The cupper and the cupped person have broken their fast." Hadiths were also narrated regarding his virtues, including the Prophet hearing Bilal's footsteps ahead of him in Paradise, and his saying: "How did you precede me to Paradise?" Bilal replied that whenever he broke his ablution, he would perform a new one, and whenever he performed ablution, he would pray two rak'ahs.
