What is the ruling on using incense in mosques and seeking blessings from it in homes, and on using it in cases of panic or fear, and what is the ruling on one who says that the origin of incense is from jinn and devils?

Perfuming mosques with incense is recommended, based on Aisha's narration that the Prophet commanded mosques to be cleaned and perfumed. It is desirable to fumigate the mosque with it, as Abdullah did when Umar sat on the minbar. Using incense in homes for perfuming is permissible, and the Prophet, peace be upon him, used it. However, seeking blessings from incense or using it to ward off the evil eye or in times of panic is among the innovations, superstitions, and polytheistic acts that must be avoided.
