Is it permissible to use incense in the home merely for its scent?

There is no objection to perfuming and incensing the house, or for a woman to perfume and incense herself in her home for her husband. However, it is not permissible for her to wear perfume or incense when she leaves her home, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Any woman who applies perfume and then goes out, passing by people so that they may smell her fragrance, is an adulteress," and his saying: "Any woman who has applied incense should not attend the last 'Isha prayer with us."
