What is the ruling on the umrah of a family whose father and brother went to perform umrah without their knowledge? Do they bear any sin? And what is the ruling on someone who swore not to perform umrah until they reach the age of forty, but now wishes to perform it?
The pilgrim performing Hajj or Umrah must complete their rituals, based on the verse: (And complete the Hajj and Umrah for Allah). Therefore, it is obligatory for you and your mother to return to Mecca to complete the Umrah by performing Tawaf, Sa'i, and cutting the hair (taqseer). During this period, you must avoid the prohibitions of Ihram. There is no penalty upon you if you committed any of them due to ignorance or forgetfulness. However, for one who was negligent in asking or knew of their mistake but did not rectify it, a fidyah (expiation) is required for each prohibition committed. If you got married during this period, the marriage contract must be renewed. As for the oath not to perform Umrah until the age of forty, it does not include the incomplete Umrah. If you wish to perform another Umrah before forty, you must offer an expiation for breaking an oath.
