What is the ruling on one who shaves his beard and mustache, and is this an imitation of women and forbidden, and what is your opinion on a prominent preacher who shaves his beard, and is it permissible for a person who shaves all the hair on his face to convey the religion?

The prohibition of shaving the beard is not because of imitation of women, but rather imitation of disbelievers. One should benefit from what preachers say that is true, and not imitate them in their mistakes, as a preacher must adhere to the Sharia for his words to be more conducive to acceptance, as Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) said: "And I do not wish to contradict you in that which I forbid you from," and Allah Almighty says: "Do you order people to righteousness and forget yourselves?" In the Hadith: "A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and thrown into the Fire... and they will say: 'O so-and-so, what is wrong with you? Were you not enjoining good and forbidding evil?!' He will say: 'Yes, I used to enjoin good but did not do it, and I used to forbid evil but did it.'"
