What is the ruling on a father hitting his son after puberty, knowing that the father is naturally short-tempered, and what is the solution to this situation?

It was previously explained that the jurists differed on the ruling of disciplining an adult child by beating, and it is preferable not to resort to it except for a [sound] interest. The son should avoid provoking his father and be keen on honoring him and bringing joy to him, and supplicate for him to be cured of anger. Advisors should be brought to influence him. One must beware of anger, for it is a gateway to evils and a weapon for Satan, and the Sunnah has warned against it.
