Beating a minor is permissible, but there is a difference of opinion regarding an adult; some permit it for discipline under the same conditions as beating a minor, while others prohibit it. It is not permissible for the son to retaliate with similar beating, but he may flee from his father. If the father persists in his injustice, the son may report the matter to the competent authorities or live independently in a private residence, while maintaining filial piety towards his father and his ties with him.
