If your employer absolves you, then you are cleared. Otherwise, you are obliged to return the rights. If it's not possible to return them to the employer, then they should be spent on general Muslim welfare, such as for the poor. If you cannot return them now, then resolve to do so when you are able; it remains a debt upon you. You are not forbidden from benefiting from clothes and similar items that you purchased with your salaries that contained some unlawful earnings.
