What is the correct way to deal with relatives who have wronged one's parents, when the parents do not wish to communicate with them? Should one strive to maintain ties of kinship with them, and how can an end be put to this situation?

Kinship ties are of great importance and include both material and moral benevolence. If relatives are astray and their influence is feared, then abandonment should be graceful, through prayer and admonition. Maintaining kinship ties is obligatory, even if a parent forbids it, due to the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no obedience in disobedience to Allah." Kinship ties can be maintained without informing the parent to avoid hurting them, and it is preferable to focus on religiously upright relatives. A Muslim should inform their relatives about the obligation and virtues of maintaining kinship ties, that maintaining ties means treating kindly those who cut off or mistreat, that they should forgive their mistakes, reduce visits to avoid disputes, avoid close proximity to prevent conflicts, avoid listening to gossips, and seek Allah’s help through prayer for their guidance.
