Is the funeral prayer obligatory only for men, or for all Muslims, both men and women?

"The funeral prayer is a communal obligation (fard kifayah). Men and women are equal in the permissibility of performing it, but the default for directly undertaking it is for men. Women have been prohibited from following funerals, as authentically reported from Umm Atiyyah: 'We were prohibited from following funerals, but it was not made a strict command upon us.'"
