Is studying at university rewarded by God, like seeking religious knowledge?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Learning every beneficial science for a Muslim, whether for themselves or for their nation, carries great reward and abundant good, even if it is not purely a religious science. This is due to the generality of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim..." and his saying: "When a person dies, all his deeds cease except for three..." among which he mentioned "knowledge from which benefit is derived." Thus, every permissible science that benefits an individual or Muslims is desirable to learn and one is rewarded for it.
