Is it permissible to perform the absentee funeral prayer (Salat al-Gha'ib) for a man who has passed away and had the funeral prayer performed over him at the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram), in the mosque that he built and oversaw, and what is the evidence for that?

Scholars have differed concerning the ruling on Salat al-Gha'ib (Prayer for the Absent). The preponderant opinion is that it is permissible for one who dies in a land where there is no one to pray over him. Therefore, for a deceased person who has already been prayed over in the Sacred Mosque, Salat al-Gha'ib is not prescribed for him.
