Is it permissible, in Islamic law, to marry a Christian man who has converted to Islam and whose practice of Islam is good, and what should I do after my mother rejected him on the grounds that Christians do not convert to Islam?

Islam demolishes what came before it of disbelief, and the rulings of Islam apply to the Muslim concerning marriage, inheritance, and all other religious obligations. It is permissible for a Muslim man to marry a Muslim woman, even if he is a recent convert to Islam. One must be cautious of those who embrace Islam solely for marriage and do not adhere to its rulings. If a man converts to Islam willingly and sincerely, and there are no signs of deceit, he is treated as a Muslim, having the same rights and obligations as other Muslims. It is preferable to marry a new convert to Islam to reconcile his heart. The fundamental principle is that whoever embraces Islam is judged by it outwardly, and if he proposes to a Muslim woman and is of satisfactory religious commitment and character, he should not be rejected, based on the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "If someone whose religious commitment and character you approve proposes to you, then marry him." The mother does not have the right to prevent her daughter from marrying a Muslim on the pretext that Christians do not embrace Islam. If the mother insists on refusing, the daughter can instruct her guardian to marry her to him.
