How can the Hadith, "The Hour will not be established until the mountains disappear," be reconciled with the Quranic statement that on the Day of Resurrection, mountains will be "like carded wool," and with the seeking of refuge by Jesus (peace be upon him) and the Muslims in Mount طور from Gog and Magog?

The obliteration of mountains at the advent of the Hour occurs with the blowing of the Trumpet, whereupon they will move, be crushed, and be scattered. This is affirmed by Quranic verses and the statements of exegetes and scholars, where the solid mountains will turn into fine sand, and then the earth will become level in preparation for the gathering. The mountains will generally remain until the first blowing [of the Trumpet]. As for the narrations that mention the obliteration of mountains before the advent of the Hour or the Dajjal, some of them are subject to interpretation or their chains of transmission are not sound.
