If you did not do what you swore to do on the specified day, then you have broken your oath and must offer expiation for it. The expiation for an oath is feeding ten poor persons, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. Whoever cannot find these, then fasting for three days. Fasting is not sufficient unless one is unable to feed, clothe, or emancipate. We advise you to avoid anger, to think well of your husband, to find excuses for him, and not to allow Satan to create discord between you.
