Is it permissible for the elder brother to postpone the repayment of a debt to his minor brother, which he took from the minor's money by the father's discretion, under the pretext that a plot of land that the father had stipulated to be sold to repay the debt has not yet been sold, while he procrastinates in selling it out of greed for its price to rise?

A person who owes money to another must immediately repay it to its rightful owner if they are able. Allah Almighty commanded this in His saying: "So let the one who has been entrusted fulfill his trust and fear Allah, his Lord." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade procrastination, saying: "The procrastination of a rich person makes his honor and punishment permissible." This procrastination is forbidden, and some scholars have considered it a major sin, especially if the right belongs to an orphan. The debtor's ownership of land that he has not sold does not justify delaying repayment, as long as he possesses other means to pay.
