The question

Is this supplication correct, and is it permissible to supplicate with it: "O Allah, I ask You and turn to You through the Prophet of Mercy, Muhammad (peace be upon him). O Muhammad, I have turned through you to my Lord concerning this need of mine, that it may be fulfilled - and he names his need - O Allah, then make him intercede for me, and make me intercede for myself"?

The answer

The hadith indicates the permissibility of seeking intercession through the Prophet's supplication during his lifetime. However, after his death, scholars have differed, and the more preponderant view is that it is not permissible.
